The Greenwald Team email

October 1st, 2011

One benefit of adding an email for the team is that everyone in the team gets the message and it will help the overall flow of communication in the office.  The new email name is: TheGreenwaldTeam@Creeksidem.com which will enable distribution to everyone.  Employees associated with title companies, real estate agents, and borrowers can use this email, and this way everyone will get the message and it will be dispersed properly. Ultimately it would prevent tasks from being delayed so the response will happen instantaneously.

Creekside Mortgage New VA Logo “NW #1 VA Home Loan Experts”

July 18th, 2011

We changed our logo representing the fact that we are the number NW #1 VA Home Loan Experts. We really want to change our motto towards that, due to the fact that 90% of what we do now is just VA in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. We can do all types of loan options, but VA seems to be the major factor of what Creekside Mortgage has been doing. The majority of employees that work at Creekside Mortgage are prior service, or  either had parents in the service or family members who are  Veterans. Our pride in continuing to specialize in VA will definitely be something we carry into the future.

Dodd-Frank Bill and the Mortgage Industry 3 Months in

July 1st, 2011

It has now been over three months since the Dodd Frank Bill was enacted, affecting  the mortgage industry as a whole. The take on it from industry professionals is that it has made business  much, much more difficult due to requirements to meet  the regulations. Many more  man-hours are required just to comply with them. Now that we have seen the full effect of the bill,it is clear it has affected two groups and two groups only-individual loan officers who facilitate  the transactions, and the consumers themselves. From what we have noticed, interest rates about a quarter different in the negative, with a higher rate for the burrower. The loan officer is making about 15-20% less. The companies and  banks that the bill targeted  have not felt the effect—the expenses just been passed to  the consumer.

Bellingham Health Fair Focused on Diabetes and Heart Disease

May 4th, 2011

Come join us at the Bellingham Health Fair, Saturday, May 7th. Topics will include healthy cooking ideas, exercise, weight management and how mood affects health. “About 10% of Whatcom County residents have diabetes, according to Brinn” so the entire community needs to come to this event.
As someone who just found out a close family friend had been diagnosed with diabetes I think this is an important event that everyone should be aware of. The number of people being diagnosed with diabetes is growing and the majority of cases is type 2, which is linked to lifestyle, age, lack of exercise, obesity, and let’s not forget family history.
Come out and learn what you can do to help prevent diabetes, which is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke. When the number of people with the disease is growing, especially in children and teenagers find out what you can do to prevent this from affecting your family.
The fair will feature 12 educational seminars taught by local heath care professionals, free screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, feet and eyes. There will also be 25 health exhibitors at the event.
The event is $10 and will be held at Bellingham High School, 9am -2pm Saturday May 7th. Registration is required. You can also register online at peacehealth.org/diabetes.
For more information please contact Cindy Brinn at 360-788-6620 and CBrinn@peacehealth.org.

Whatcom County Celebrates Earth Day

April 18th, 2011

Earth Day, started in 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson (D-Wisconsin), was created to teach awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. It is celebrated in many countries every year and the first Earth Day was in 1970. …

This Friday April 22, is Earth Day, and Whatcom County has some ideas on how their residents can celebrate by being more environmentally friendly. There are several things going on throughout the week in Whatcom County to celebrate:

Monday the 18th Appliance Depot will offer free curbside collection of old, and unwanted appliances. The non profit refurbishes the appliances or recycles them if they are unable to remove parts or refurbish them. To schedule a pickup click the Appliance Depot link above.

You also have the opportunity to recycle by bringing used writing instruments, regardless of brand, to Office Depot in Bellingham. They will be sent to TerraCycle Inc. and turned into new office-supply products such as trash cans and desk organizers.

Wednesday the 20th is another recycle day. You can drop off unwanted electronics at Alcoa Intalco Work’s plant in Ferndale, WA.  There is also a “climate talk” scheduled for 7pm at the Northwest Indian College. There will be a reception to honor human rights activist, Oren Lyons and this event is open to the public.

Thursday the 21st is set aside to help the Newhalem Creek Campground by landscaping and maintaining campsites while improving trails. To assist here, contact the park headquarters. This event is also a part of the National Park Week. There will be a workshop open as well that runs from 7-9pm at the Sustainable Living Center in Bellingham, WA to talk about pollution reduction. The workshop is called “Umbiquitous Plastic: How to get a grip”. It will be above the RE store at 2309 Meridian Street.

Friday the 22nd will be a day for relaxing and learning. At 4pm, Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro in Bellingham, WA will hold a BBQ, Earth Day inspired tunes by DJ Kitchen Sink along with a Sustainability Fair featuring local businesses. Learn about urban gardening, cooking, and sustainable food. This event is free! You can also drop off your used flip flops at the Old Navy in Bellis Fair Mall to be recycled and used in playgrounds. This project is a partnership between Old Navy and TerraCycle Inc.

Saturday the 23rd will wrap up the Earth Day week with a few events to choose from. There is a Cloth Diaper Event that hopes to set a record as a part of the Great Cloth Diaper Exchange. The goal is to set a world record through Guinness Book of World Records for the most diapers changed at the same time.  The event is being organized by the Real Diaper Association. Register at greendiaperdemos.com and review the rules. This event will be held at the Cordata Community Food Co-op in Bellingham, WA.

There will also be a work party to help plant trees at Landingstrip Creek near Acme. The event is from 9-12pm and organized by Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA), REI and Whatcom Land Trust. Parking is available at Acme Elementary School. Check in at the blue NSEA  tent.

Another option is a park cleanup at Larrabee State Park from 9am -2pm. Here you can help clean garden beds, and rake out a play structure. Volunteers are asked to bring hand tools. To learn more call Alex Moularas and Amber Forest at 360-676-2093.

Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in your community and learn some new ideas on how to be more friendly to the world that you live in. So come on out and help Whatcom County get its green on!

Testimonials

"When I began researching VA loans to purchase my first home, I became confused on the process. I contacted Mike Frakes at Creekside Mortgage, who explained the process and answered all the question that I had. During my application process and the closing of my house, Mike went out of his way to keep me informed of what was going on.

I was living in San Diego at the time, and buying a house in Bellingham, Washington. Mike was laways available when I needed a question answered, and he seemed as though he was just right down the street. Recently Mike contacted me to refinance my loan when interest rates dropped. The refinance was just as pleaseant as my original loan for my purchase had been. I would like to thank Mike and everyone else at Creekside MOrtgage for making my mortgage process so seamless."
